How to Use Deep Links in “Announcement” and “Did You Know” Articles

Having the information and tools you need at your fingertips is crucial when you’re on the front line performing critical tasks and procedures. To simplify and enhance your ability to communicate with your front line workers, and give them the information and tools they need, we’ve added deep link capability to the “Announcement” and “Did You Know” articles  that enables you to provide links to Topics, Content, and Experts (Users) from within the platform.

Now, when you publish Announcements and Did You Knows, you can reference existing Topics, Content, and Users with a “Click here” link. This link makes it very easy for the front line workers to directly access content and experts involved with the highlighted feature or  function from within these special articles.

This article will show you have to create these Deep Links in “Announcement” and “Did You Know” Content. The process is the same for both types of Content, so we will just focus on "Announcement" Content in our examples below.

Create a new "Announcement" content

  1. Open a web browser and go to your Atheer workspace

    NOTE: This process does not work with the Atheer Studio app. It must be done using a web browser, because you will need to be able to view the URL.

  2. Sign into your Atheer workspace.
  3. Go to the Atheer toolbar and click on the Content Content_button.png button.
  4. Click on the NEW button at the top, right corner of the page.
  5. Select the "Announcement" type in the pull-down menu.

  6. Complete the Announcement as usual (Creating Content Overview).
  7. Save the Announcement.
  8. See below how to create a Deep Link to Atheer Content, Atheer Topics, and Atheer Users.

Creating a Deep Link to Atheer Content

  1. In the Description field of the Announcement, type in the words that you wish to use a the Deep Link hyperlink target.

  2. Save the Announcement.
  3. Click on the Back Arrow button at the top, left corner of the screen, or go to the Atheer toolbar and click on the Content Content_button.png button, to get to the main Content page.
  4. Navigate the Content list and click the Edit mceclip1.png  button of the Content that you wish to be the target of the Announcement Deep Link.
  5. Note that in the URL field of the Content you selected, there is a Content ID number.

  6. Copy that Content ID out of the URL (you might want to paste it into a notepad or other program for future reference).
  7. Click on the Back Arrow button at the top, left corner of the screen, or go to the Atheer toolbar and click on the Content Content_button.png button, to get to the main Content page.
  8. Navigate to and edit the Announcement into which you wish to place the Deep Link.
  9. In the Announcement description, highlight the word or words to which you want to attach the Deep Link, and click on the Hyperlink button.

  10. Using the following syntax, enter your hyperlink URL into the URL field of the hyperlink pop-up.

    Syntax: https://<workspace URL>/deeplink/content/<ID>
    Example Use Case:
    https://productsupport/deeplink/content/5f861d546fd6c300014fbe0f

    NOTE: You can also choose to require that the Deep Link open in a new browser tab by clicking the "Open in new tab" checkbox.

  11. Save the Announcement

Creating a Deep Link to Atheer Topics

  1. In the Description field of the Announcement, type in the words that you wish to use a the Deep Link hyperlink target.

  2. Save the Announcement.
  3. Click on the Back Arrow button at the top, left corner of the screen, or go to the Atheer toolbar and click on the Topics mceclip0.png button, to get to the main Topics page.
  4. Navigate the Content list and click the Edit mceclip1.png button of the Topic that you wish to be the target of the Announcement Deep Link.
  5. Note that in the URL field of the Topic you selected, there is a Topic ID number.

  6. Copy that Topic ID out of the URL (you might want to paste it into a notepad or other program for future reference).
  7. Click on the Back Arrow button at the top, left corner of the screen, or go to the Atheer toolbar and click on the Content Content_button.png button, to get to the main Content page.
  8. Navigate to and edit the Announcement into which you wish to place the Deep Link.
  9. In the Announcement description, highlight the word or words to which you want to attach the Deep Link, and click on the Hyperlink button.

  11. Save the Announcement

 

Creating a Deep Link to Atheer Users

  1. In the Description field of the Announcement, type in the words that you wish to use a the Deep Link hyperlink target.

  5. Note that in the URL field of the Topic you selected, there is a Topic ID number.
